“Studies of the East: Interaction, Safe Dialogue, Strengthening Trust, Local Initiatives in Conditions of Transformation”

On May 12–14, Assistant Professor of the Department of History and Archaeology Yevheniya Shevtsova took part in the dialogue meeting “Studies of the East: Interaction, Safe Dialogue, Strengthening Trust, Local Initiatives in Conditions of Transformation”.

The meeting was held in the village of Moshny, Cherkasy region. The event became a platform for professional dialogue among the participants, including activists, public figures, researchers and educators from the East of Ukraine. Together, they discussed the challenges and opportunities of local initiatives, developed dialogue practices, and formed strategies to strengthen the ability of communities to implement socially significant projects.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to the role of preserving regional identity as the basis for cohesion and sustainable development. In joint work, the participants developed a Manifesto for the Future of the Ukrainian East and outlined further steps for interregional interaction.

Participation in such initiatives is a valuable experience for a teacher of historical disciplines, as it contributes to the development of civic education, the formation of meaningful contacts and new forms of academic cooperation.

The event is organized within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Capacity of Activists of the Ukrainian East to Influence the Processes of Regional Restoration (Phase II)”, which is implemented by the NGO “Renaissance and Development Association” with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation in cooperation with the NGO “Association for Promoting Self-Organization of the Population”, the NGO “Center for Political and Legal Reforms” and the NGO “Civil Initiative of Luhansk Region”.

Sincere gratitude to the organizers of the event for creating a space of trust, professional exchange and support for activists and researchers of the East of Ukraine.
