As part of career guidance activities, a meeting of representatives of the Journalism Department in Chornomorsk took place.
Career guidance activities at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University are carried out on a systematic and continuous basis with active coverage of various regions of Ukraine, including the southern regions, which contributes to raising awareness of young people about educational opportunities and the formation of conscious professional self-determination.
During April 13–15, 2025, within the framework of career guidance activities, a meeting was held between representatives of the Journalism Department Olha Kutsevskaya and Oksana Korchagina with graduates of schools of the Black Sea community of the Odesa region, on the territory of which the counseling center of our higher education institution has been operating for three years.
The 9–11th grade students of Chornomorsk Lyceum No. 7, Oleksandrivsky Secondary Educational Service and Malodolynsky Secondary Educational Service, subordinate to the Chornomorsk City Council of Odesa District, Odessa Region, received representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University with sincere interest and hospitality. Such interest on the part of the students indicates the relevance and demand for career guidance work.
During the career guidance meeting, applicants were presented with comprehensive and systematized information on the features of the functioning of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in conditions of internal displacement, with emphasis on its educational, scientific and social advantages. Special attention was paid to key aspects that significantly influence the formation of the educational trajectory of future applicants: motivational factors in choosing a higher education institution, professional orientation of graduates and their further personal and professional self-determination.
During the meaningful conversation, students had the opportunity to receive comprehensive answers to relevant questions regarding the admission requirements, the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process, the structure of the university, the forms of conducting the assessment and examination session, as well as the possibilities of students’ accommodation in dormitories.
On May 15, 2025, as part of the already traditional meeting, representatives of the Journalism Department of LTSNU, Olha Kutsevska and Oksana Korchagina, took part in the celebration of Vyshyvanka Day at Lyceum No. 7 in the city of Chornomorsk. The event was held at the invitation of the institution’s management, in particular the director, Tetiana Kaplun. In the warm and solemn atmosphere of the holiday, the teachers not only joined the general celebration of Ukrainian traditions, but also had a meaningful conversation with students, emphasizing the importance of cultural heritage and the role of journalism in preserving national identity.
As part of the implementation of career guidance and information and educational work, on April 15, 2025, a meaningful and constructive meeting was held in the city of Chornomorsk between representatives of LTSNU – Olha Kutsevska, Oksana Korchagina, Natalia Mordovtseva, as well as an employee of the Chornomorsk Consulting Center Iryna Voronenkova with representatives of the NGO “Alliance for the Protection of the Rights of Military Personnel, War Veterans and Military Service”.
The discussion focused on topical issues related to the conditions for admission to a higher education institution in 2025, in particular, the features of submitting documents, the stages of the admission campaign and the specifics of the educational process in a relocated university.
A special emphasis was placed on the rights and privileges of entrants who have the status of a participant in hostilities (UBD) or are members of their families. The participants of the meeting received comprehensive information on the mechanisms for implementing benefits during admission, the conditions for free education, provision of a dormitory, as well as opportunities for academic support and social support for students of preferential categories.
The event was held in a businesslike and at the same time warm atmosphere, confirming the importance of inter-sectoral cooperation in supporting the defenders of Ukraine and creating for them equal access to high-quality higher education.
Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University expresses deep gratitude to the Chornomorsk Territorial Community, in particular the mayor Vasyl Huliaiev, the head of the education department Andrii Kovalov, the pedagogical community and students, for their comprehensive support of the university during martial law. Their consistent and active participation in the common cause of developing national education, science, culture, art and sports is extremely valuable – as important factors in preserving national identity, civic stability and the future post-war revival of Ukraine.
