Master Class Dedicated to the World Vyshyvanka Day

The Dolyna Consulting Center of LTSNU hosted a master class “Lace in Ukrainian Embroidery”.

The master class was held by Natalia Yuriv, an employee of the Dolyna Central Public Library. The event was attended by teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, as well as students of colleges and university institutes.

In the introductory part of the meeting, a teacher of the ER IPP demonstrated a presentation about the history of the holiday. It was noted that the initiators of the action in 2006 were students, thanks to whom the public organization “World Vyshyvanka Day” was created. Every year it grows and implements large-scale initiatives. This year, the holiday is dedicated to the Ukrainian cultural heritage occupied by the Russian Federation.

The presentation materials emphasized the importance of celebrating the holiday, the idea of which is to support Ukrainian traditions and culture through honoring and wearing embroidery. It has become a popular Ukrainian symbol of unity and national pride.
Ms. Natalia introduced the attendees to samples of items decorated with lace, books about this type of decorative seam, and then, under her guidance, everyone tried to make an openwork pattern on fabric. The participants of the master class created lace as a decoration on a bag for storing aromatic, medicinal teas from ecologically clean areas of the Carpathians.

There was a pleasant conversation about the art of embroidery, a feeling of comfort and harmony appeared, the revival of something native and forgotten, which is especially necessary in times of war.

We are sincerely grateful to the director of the Dolyna Central Public Library and Ms. Natalia Yuriv for the master class and cooperation with the university.
