Vyshyvanka Day is a holiday that unites Ukrainians, once again proving that Ukrainians are a nation with their own culture, glorious traditions and customs, with their own laws and worldview, with their own shrines and amulets.
On May 15, 2025, an online event dedicated to Vyshyvanka Day was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Business and Management. The director of the Institute, Valerii KHMEL, congratulated the scientific and pedagogical workers, students on the holiday and emphasized the importance of preserving the Ukrainian identity, the symbol of which is vyshyvanka. The Deputy Director for Social and Humanitarian Work, Yulia BUTENKO, presented an informative presentation on the history of this holiday, the types of patterns on vyshyvankas and the traditions of their decoration in different regions of Ukraine. Professor of the Department of Management Oleksandra LIASHENKO told the history of Ukrainian embroidery of the Luhansk region and the peculiarity of the combination of colors of Luhansk embroidery. Those present learned that the decoration with embroidery along the sleeve from the back is a feature that is found exclusively in the Luhansk region.
Ukrainian Vyshyvanka is a national shrine that symbolizes and carries spiritual wealth, high wisdom and traditional connection of many generations. It is our national amulet that preserves roots, identity, understanding of ourselves. This is our history: mythology, religion, ancient art of our ancestors, the soul of our people. Moreover, our genetic code is encrypted in embroidery.
So let this holiday erase borders and unite Ukrainians around the world, prove that we are a powerful invincible people.
