Online Event Dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation

On May 8, an online event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation was held at the ER IHCS.

Title of the event: “Physical Culture, Sports and Rehabilitation through the Lens of World War II”.

The event was organized jointly with the Luhansk Regional Branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

The purpose of the event was to honor the memory of fallen heroes and to understand the importance of physical culture, sports and rehabilitation in the conditions and consequences of war. Special attention was paid to the exploits of front-line athletes, the role of school physical education during the war years, as well as methods of rehabilitation of the wounded.

The relevance of the event is growing in our time, when Ukraine is again experiencing military trials. Knowledge of historical examples of courage, endurance and strength of spirit inspires new generations to fight, support each other, recover and move forward.

The honored guest of the event was Viktor Vasylevich Ostretsov, a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Chairman of the Luhansk Regional Branch of the NOC of Ukraine, Head of the Luhansk Regional Branch of the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of sport as a means of education, national unity and renewal – both in the past and in the present.

The Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Health Care and Sports, Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Dubovoi, also addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of preserving historical memory and developing sports culture in the face of modern challenges.

At the end of the event, Daria Oleksandrivna Sipakova, Deputy Director of the ER IHCS,  made a speech, summarizing the main points of the meeting, expressing gratitude to the participants and emphasizing the importance of continuing such initiatives in the educational process.
