Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation at the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences

On May 8, the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences hosted an event dedicated to the next anniversary of “Memory and Reconciliation” entitled “Manipulation on the Bones.

The author of the thematic meeting was Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of History and Archeology Oleksandr Naboka. Focusing on the coverage of family history events related to the events of World War II (1939-1941), the speaker noted that from early childhood he felt respect for his relatives, who at one time took an active part in the turbulent military events. According to him, the last years of the war with Russia allowed us to understand our ancestors, who experienced similar feelings of fear, uncertainty and horror before terrible events.

Oleksandr Naboka noted that today the Russian Putin regime has “stole” the feeling of celebration and victory, having ruined the spirit of the holiday and filled it with a new – “neo-imperial” or even “pagan” meaning. The participants of the meeting considered the phenomenon of “pobedobissia” – a Russian ideological special operation, which is characterized by a hypertrophied cult of Soviet victory, inciting artificial hatred of neighboring peoples, by rewarding unjustified clichés of “Nazis”. According to Oleksandr Naboka, he observed the first manifestations of this information special operation back in 2005, when the Russian authorities set a course for the restoration of the Russian neo-empire.

The popular lecture aroused considerable interest among the participants of the event and forced them to rethink their outdated views on the events of eighteen years ago.
