At the Department of Journalism, the 6th All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Regional Media of Ukraine: History, Current State, and Prospects for Development” was held.

On April 10 at 11:00, the Department of Journalism of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology and Journalism hosted the 6th All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Regional Media of Ukraine: History, Current State, and Prospects for Development,” dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Department of Journalism.

The event was opened with welcoming speeches by: Rector of the State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University”, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Olena Karaman; First Vice-Rector of the State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University”, Chair of the Academic Council, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Vitalii Kurylo; Doctor of Philological Sciences in the specialty “Journalism”, Professor of the Department of Social Communications of the Private Higher Educational Institution “International University of Economics and Humanities named after Academician Stepan Demianchuk” Valentyna Halych (founder of the Department of Journalism of the State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University”); Head of the Department of Journalism of the State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University”, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Artem Halych.

Scientists from eight institutions of higher education and two institutions of secondary education took part in the conference, among them: State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University”; State Higher Educational Institution “Uzhhorod National University”; V.I. Vernadskyi Tavria National University; Private Higher Educational Institution “International University of Economics and Humanities named after Academician Stepan Demianchuk”; National University of Food Technologies; Mykola Gogol Nizhyn State University; Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Black Sea Lyceum No. 7; Kyiv Private Lyceum of Ukrainstvo LLC.

The plenary session featured presentations by: Doctor of Sciences in Social Communications, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language, Literature, Cultural Studies, and Journalism of Mykola Gogol Nizhyn State University Tetiana Dziuba (“The Observation Method in Investigative Journalism”); Head of the Department of Journalism of the State Higher Educational Institution “Uzhhorod National University”, PhD in Social Communications, Associate Professor Yevhen Solomin (“The Role of Regional Television in Ukraine’s Media System: History of Changes, Modern Challenges, and Development Forecasts in the Digital Era”); Director of ULAV MEDIA LLC, third-year postgraduate student majoring in Philology (035) at the State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University” Roman Rusanov (“Regional Media Between the Past and the Future: Personal Experience of Adapting to Changes and Searching for New Formats”); Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the online media “Trybun” Valeriia Melnyk (“The Twice-Relocated Online Media ‘Trybun’ from Luhansk Region: Challenges and New Formats”); PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism of the State Institution “Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University” Olena Kravchenko (“Genre and Thematic Originality in the Journalistic Work of Oleksandr Bielokobylianskyi”).

After discussing the speeches of the plenary session participants, sectional meetings began, during which scientific discussions continued on relevant problems of regional media, the creative work of publicist writers during the war, innovations in modern approaches to journalism, trends in the development of modern Ukrainian advertising, and current problems of journalism in the scientific perception of higher education applicants.

The scientific discussions were highly productive and continued until 17:00. Based on the results of the conference, a decision was made on further cooperation between educational institutions, increasing the role of regional media in the media system of Ukraine, and preparing the conference materials for publication.
