An online lecture “Medical and Health Tourism in the Kharkiv Region. Current State and Development Prospects” was held.
On April 7, 2025, teachers and students majoring in Hotel and restaurant business, Tourism and recreation, Professional education (Agricultural production, processing of agricultural products and food technologies) of the Department of Professional Education, Restaurant and Tourism Business attended an online lecture “Medical and health tourism in the Kharkiv region. Current state and development prospects” on the example of the SE “Clinical sanatorium “Berezivski mineral waters resort” of PJSC “Ukrprofozdorovnitsa” from the head of the department of organizational and methodological work of the OKZ KHOMITS Olena Chernukha.
The lecturer revealed the essence of medical and health tourism as a trip to resort areas for the purpose of recovery and treatment, using natural healing factors for therapeutic and preventive purposes.
During the lecture, such important aspects as terminology, pricing policy and target audience of the industry were considered. Special attention was paid to different types of resort resources of Ukraine – climatic, mud and balneological, as well as the specifics of medical and health tourism centers in different regions of the country, in particular: Lviv (Truskavets, Skhidnytsia, Morshyn), Ivano-Frankivsk (Cherche), Zaporizhia (Berdiansk), Odesa (Khadzhibei, Kuialnyk), Poltava (Mirhorod), Zakarpattia (Polyana, Shayan, Kosino) and Kharkiv (Berminovody) regions.
An analysis of the competitiveness and tools for the development of medical and health tourism was also conducted. At the end of the lecture, threats to the development of the industry were discussed, including the continuation of hostilities, increased competition at the level of the country’s tourist regions and increased stagnation of the infrastructure base.
The online lecture was informative and useful for future specialists in the tourism and hotel and restaurant sectors, providing them with a practical understanding of the current state and prospects for the development of medical and health tourism in Ukraine.
