Event “Universities in the Ecosystem. How Are You?”

The team of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in the event “Universities in the ecosystem. How are you?”

The event was held with the participation of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and representatives of the community of higher education institutions that implement the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”: rectors, vice-rectors and leaders of student self-government.

On March 31, 2025, representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University joined the large-scale event “Universities in the Ty Yak Ecosystem?”. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Academic Council, First Vice-Rector, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vitalii KURYLO; Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Yaroslava YURKIV and Anastasia STAVYTSKA, a bachelor’s student. 

The event brought together representatives of 30 higher education institutions of Ukraine that have developed areas of psychological education and established mental health centers. Its purpose was to discuss the role of universities in the implementation of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”, initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

Opening the event, Olena Zelenska emphasized the importance of systematic support for mental health in the field of education and the need to expand relevant programs in higher education institutions. The discussion was also joined by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Andrii Vitrenko, who emphasized that the integration of mental health programs into higher education institutions is an important step in forming a sustainable and healthy student community.

The event included a presentation “3D Ecosystem “How are you?”: the role and place of universities in it”, which revealed the concept of integrating higher education institutions into the system of supporting students’ mental health. Special attention was paid to the connection between mental health and the economy, as reported by Doctor of Economic Sciences Andrii Dligach.

The second part of the event included:

– a presentation of UNICEF research on Ukrainians’ perceptions of mental health;

– a lecture by Nataliia Kryvda on collective trauma and cultural memory;

– a practical workshop on developing solutions to create a new culture of coping strategies.

The event highlighted the importance of continuing initiatives aimed at supporting students’ mental health and actively involving higher education institutions in this program.

Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University will continue to promote the development of these initiatives, supporting students and creating a comfortable educational environment where caring for mental health is an integral part of the educational process.
