Participation in the Round Table

On March 28, a round table meeting “The Role of Historical Local History in the Training and Daily Work of Teachers” was held with the participation of educators and specialists from specialized units of the military administrations of the Siverskodonetsk District.
The event was held within the cooperation between Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the Coordination Council for the Establishment of Ukrainian National and Civic Identity at the Siverskodonetsk Regional State Administration at the initiative of the Department of History and Archaeology.
Oleksandr Naboka, Professor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology and Olha Drobysheva, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor shared their vision of the stated issues of the round table. They presented the reports “The Use of Local History Materials in the Educational Process as a Way of Countering the Information Aggression of the Russian Federation (on the Example of the History of the Luhansk Region)” and “Formation of Professional Competencies of Future Teachers of History and Civic Education: Practical Opportunities of Local History Research on the History of the Luhansk Region in Distance Learning Conditions”.
The discussion was joined by the Deputy Head of the Siverskodonetsk Regional State Administration Kateryna Kolesnikova, history and civic education teachers of secondary education institutions of the district, heads and deputies of educational institutions, as well as representatives of the departments of education, culture, youth and sports of territorial communities.
The main attention during the meeting was paid to the current challenges and prospects for the use of historical local history in the conditions of the information war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine both in the professional activities of teachers and during studies in higher education institutions.
