Participation of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in the All-Ukrainian ECO-workshop “Education for Sustainable Development”

On March 26, within the framework of the All-Ukrainian educational project “Education for Sustainable Development”, a presentation of the achievements of teachers of the Luhansk region took place.

The event was organized within the work program of the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for Student Youth with the support of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Department of Education and Science. The technical organization was taken on by the Cooperative “Luhansk Regional Center for Ecological and Naturalistic Creativity of Student Youth”.

The meeting was moderated by the acting director of the Cooperative “Luhansk Regional Center for Ecological and Naturalistic Creativity of Student Youth”, head of the Luhansk branch “Ecological Guard”, member of the NGO “All-Ukrainian Ecological League” Alla KATERINETS.

The event reviewed the experience of educational institutions of the Luhansk region in the direction of “Education for Sustainable Development”. The event was attended by heads of educational management bodies, institutions of preschool, general secondary, out-of-school, higher, professional pre-higher, professional (vocational and technical) education, pedagogical workers and scientists of the regions of Ukraine. The welcoming and motivating words were delivered by the acting director of the Department of Education and Science of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Tetiana POSKRIAKOVA, the acting director of the Department of Communal Property, Land, Property Relations, Ecology and Natural Resources Tetiana KUKUSHKINA; the director of the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Volodymyr VERBYTSKYI.

During the event, the team of the ER INAS presented the experience of the eco-workshop “Naturalists for the Armed Forces of Ukraine”. The report was delivered by the director of the Educational and Research Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences of LTSNU, head of the Luhansk branch of the “All-Ukrainian Ecological League”, candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor Nataliia MATSAI. The institute students Liza SEREDA and Fedir YAVTUSHENKO presented the developed technology for manufacturing environmentally friendly heaters and lighters.

Today, in higher education, the implementation of the concept of sustainable development takes place not only in the content of professional training of future specialists, but also in social and humanitarian work, which makes it possible to form environmentally aware and conscious citizens. Confirmation of the success of this process can be one of the initiatives of naturalists who, despite the complexity of the present, focus on creating an ecological environment in the most dangerous conditions of the front line, care about the health and future of our Defenders. This is how the idea of ​​creating a volunteer eco-workshop “Naturalists for the Armed Forces” for the manufacture of heaters and lighters arose.

It is should be noted that such work unites young people, activates the community, provides an opportunity to understand that the path to a sustainable European future begins with the environmental awareness of each citizen. And, of course, it provides an opportunity to take care of our Defenders, to bring the desired Victory closer!
