Participation in the Scientific Seminar

On March 21, Natalia Leonidivna Yuhan took part in the scientific seminar “Modern Literary Reportage: Fact and Fiction.”

On 21 March 2025, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Acting Head of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, Department of Literary Studies, Oriental Philology and Translation Nataliia Leonidivna Yuhan took part in the scientific seminar ‘Contemporary Literary Reportage: Fact and Fiction’ at the Department of German Philology of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The speaker, Natalia Mocherniuk, Doctor of Philology, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Ukrainian Literature of the I. Krypyakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, presented a report on «Listening, Observing, Empathising: Reportage Among Other Genres». Khrystyna Kachak, a postgraduate student at the Department of German Philology at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, presented a report on «Documentariness as a Strategy for Constructing Reality in Contemporary Literary Reportage». The seminar was chaired by Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of German Philology Svitlana Matsenko.

Natalia Yuhan actively participated in the discussion, asking meaningful questions to the speakers, clarifying theoretical aspects and discussing the boundaries between documentary and fiction in literary reportage. Her comments provoked a lively response from the seminar participants, which contributed to a deeper understanding of the topics raised.

At the end of the meeting, the participants emphasised the importance of such academic discussions for the further development of research in this area. The seminar not only became a platform for the exchange of ideas, but also opened new perspectives for the study of contemporary literary reportage.
