Guest Lecture at the ER INAS

A guest lecture was held at the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology, dedicated to the analysis of the species diversity of dendrophytes in the urban environment using the example of the city of Lubny, Poltava region.

The Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology hosted a guest lecture on the topic: “Analysis of the Species Diversity of Dendrophytes in Urban Environments Using the Example of the City of Lubny, Poltava Region”.

The event brought together students and teachers of the ER INAS, who had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the state and prospects for the development of urban green spaces. The lecturer was Liudmyla TYMOSHENKO, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Agroecological Forestry, Department of Forest Ecosystems and Agroforestry Reclamation, Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of the NAAS of Ukraine.

During the presentation, Ms. Liudmyla presented the results of research aimed at studying the species diversity of woody and shrub plants in the urban environment, in particular in the city of Lubny. Ms. Liudmyla revealed key aspects of the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors on the state of dendrophytes in cities. She emphasized that climatic conditions, soil and hydrological factors, as well as air pollution, urbanization and recreational load significantly affect the viability and development of urban green spaces.

During the lecture, the results of research conducted in the city of Lubny were presented, where aspects such as the taxonomic composition, age structure, decorativeness and viability of dendrophytes were studied. Ms. Liudmyla emphasized the importance of preserving and expanding the range of woody and shrub plants for urban landscaping, proposing new species and varieties that can be used to form trunk plantations.

Special attention was paid to the ecological significance of dendrophytes in the urban environment, in particular their role in improving air quality, reducing noise and creating a comfortable microclimate for city residents.

The lecture participants actively asked questions, in particular about methods of landscaping urban areas, the use of new technologies in tree care, and the possibilities of using exotic species in the urban environment. The lecture aroused great interest and facilitated the exchange of experience between the participants.

We sincerely thank Ms. Liudmyla for an interesting and informative lecture! We hope for further cooperation and new meetings!
