Discussion of Educational and Professional Programs

On March 18, 2025, an extended meeting of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology was held to discuss the projects of educational and professional programs (EPP) for the second (master’s) level of higher education: В11 «English Language and Literature», В11 «German Language and Literature», and В11 «French Language and Literature».
To enhance the quality of training for master’s-level philologists, specialists from other departments of the Institute of Philology and Journalism were invited, including representatives from the departments of Literary Studies, Eastern Philology and Translation, and Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes. Also in attendance were EPP working groups, reviewers, and external stakeholders. Among the reviewers of the philological educational programs were: Yuliia Bondarchuk, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Snizhana Kubrak, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at Polissia National University; Nataliia Hudkova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor at the Department of Philology and Translation, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design; Svitlana Dvorianchykova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Associate Professor at the Department of Philology and Translation, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design; Svitlana Zlobynets, a teacher of the highest category in English and German at Novosanzhary Lyceum, Novosanzhary District Council, Poltava Region; Karina Babayants, Master of German Language and Literature, Customer Support Manager, Translator at DIMAX International GmbH, graduate of the «German Language and Literature» program in 2020 from Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, among others.
External stakeholders included: Iryna Akinshyna, PhD in Philology, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Information Utilization, Documents, and External Relations of the Sectoral State Archive of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory; Maryna Borodina, representative of the Premier Hotels and Resorts, Premier Hotel Rus; Olha Kulbaka, Deputy Director for Museum Infrastructure Development at the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishnia; Iryna Shiyan, Head of the «European Choice» Translation Bureau, among others.
Graduates of related specialties and master’s students of the presented EPPs also joined the discussion, including: Olha Polishchuk, graduate of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the EPP «Ukrainian Language and Literature, Foreign Literature, English Language» in 2020; Dmytro Reshetnikov, student of the second (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the EPP «Language and Literature (English)»; Ulyana Dmytriv, master’s student of the EPP «Philology. Germanic Languages and Literatures (including Translation), First – German. Language and Literature (German)» (2024–2026 academic years).
Program guarantors presented the projects of the educational programs for the 2025 admissions cycle, highlighted projected changes in educational components, and emphasized current issues requiring discussion. Reviewers, students, and stakeholders shared their suggestions for improving the educational components of the programs. The public meeting featured an active discussion of recommendations regarding the content of mandatory educational components and their sequencing. This approach allows for the consideration of the needs and interests of direct participants in the educational process and stakeholders. Additionally, time was allocated to reviewing proposals for elective educational components, offering students greater opportunities for self-development and the selection of study areas that align with their individual interests.
Overall, the extended meeting of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology was rich in important discussions and proposals that have the potential to significantly improve the educational and professional programs of the institute’s specialties. The suggestions voiced have been taken into account and will be considered by project team members when updating the educational and professional programs. The next steps for the guarantors and members of the working (project) groups involve implementing the proposed ideas and evaluating them in the context of training highly qualified professionals.
