Taxes, Customs, and Foreign-Navigating Vessels: How Does It Work?

Representatives from the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Banking joined a guest lecture on taxes, customs, and foreign-navigating vessels.

On March 11, 2025, as part of the study of the educational component “Finance” on the topic “Taxes. Tax System”, representatives of the Department of Finance, Accounting and Banking of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of tax and customs affairs by joining a guest lecture organized by our colleagues from the Department of Commodity Research and Customs Affairs of the DTEU.

A guest lecture from an expert is always an opportunity to learn more than is written in textbooks.

The lecturer, Andrii Volodymyrovych ARTEMENKO, Director of the Department of Organization of Customs Formalities of the State Customs Service, presented information on customs control and customs clearance of goods transported on foreign-going vessels.

  • What is special about customs control of goods on foreign-going vessels?

This topic opened up the backstage of international trade for all those present! Participants learned:

  • How is customs control of goods crossing borders by sea carried out?
  • What are the main challenges facing customs officers in ensuring the legality and transparency of processes?
  • What modern technologies help combat smuggling and violations of customs rules?

Why is this important?

Customs procedures directly affect business, the economy, and even our daily lives. Did you know that customs regulation determines which goods end up on our shelves and at what prices? Or that tax policy affects the cost of imports and exports?

The conclusion is simple: understanding tax and customs matters means having the tools to make effective financial decisions!

We express our sincere gratitude to our colleagues from the Department of Commodity and Customs Studies of DTEU and speaker Andrii Volodymyrovych Artemenko for an interesting and informative lecture!

Such meetings are a powerful contribution to the professional future of our applicants!
