Expert Circle of Technological Education: Content Update and Future Prospects

On March 5, 2025, an expert meeting was held in Kyiv dedicated to updating the content of technological education within the framework of the “Education for Life” policy to strengthen and implement the NUS reform.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in partnership with the Small Academy of Sciences, EdTech Ukraine Association and Kooperativ. The event brought together educators, scientists, representatives of business, industry and public organizations who joined the discussion of the future of the technological education industry.

The head of the Department of Professional Education, Restaurant and Tourism Business of LTSNU Viktor Burdun and Associate Professor Oksana Abramova took part in the event. Everyone who wished had the opportunity to watch the live broadcast of the event.

The meeting consisted of three parts: an introductory presentation, two panel discussions and collective work on the “Map of the Future”. The event was opened by Kateryna Molodyk, Head of the “Education Content” Department of the Office for the Implementation of the National University of Education and Science of Ukraine, Honored Teacher of Ukraine. She presented the “Education for Life” policy and its key aspects aimed at updating technological education.

In the first panel discussion, visionary experts discussed what competencies should be formed in school graduates so that they become successful in the technological field. Participants in the second panel discussion discussed the future of school technological education, how to update it so that it meets the challenges of the modern world. The main topics were: the introduction of STEM education, the project approach, the integration of theoretical knowledge into practical tasks.

In the third part of the event, participants joined groups to develop a roadmap for updating technological education. The ideas and proposals developed will become the basis for preparing the conceptual foundations of the technological education sector, which should become a connecting bridge between the State Education Standards and the school, contribute to the improvement of model and educational programs, teaching methods, etc.

Thanks to such expert cooperation and interaction between educators, scientists and business, it becomes possible to create high-quality educational content that will meet modern trends and needs of the labor market. During the discussions and debates, the participants of the event emphasized the importance of updating the content of the subject “Technology” to prepare the younger generation for the challenges of the 21st century. The following similar events will help consolidate the results of the reform and implement effective changes in the Ukrainian education system.
