Department of Literary Studies, Oriental Philology and Translation held the Days of the Chinese Language and Culture

March 3, 2025 Chinese Literature Day

Daria Perepadіa, associate professor of the department, candidate of pedagogical sciences, gave a lecture on the topic “Detective genre in Chinese literature: the history of its origin and features of its formation.” The speaker introduced the audience to the oldest form of detective genre works in China “gong’an” (公案小每) and the way of its transformation into modern detective stories.

March 4, 2025 Day of Friendship with the People’s Republic of China

Future orientalists and all those interested had the opportunity to visit a virtual excursion to the Henan University of Economics and Law, Zhengzhou, PRC, conducted by Yulia Malakhova, associate professor of the department, candidate of philological sciences.

March 5, 2025 Chinese Language Day

On this day, a conversational workshop with a native Chinese speaker was held. A teacher from Henan University of Economics and Law 佩奇 (Pèi Qí) and the participants worked on pronunciation and grammar. It also helped to improve the students’ conversational skills in a relaxed atmosphere.

March 6, 2025 Translation Day

Olexandr Bondarenko, the Director of the translation company “Translatel”, the member of the Linguistic Services Industry Expert Group (LIND Expert Group), Associate Professor of the Volodymyr Vynnychenko CUSU, gave a guest lecture on the topic “Linguistic Services Industry: Key Skills for Success”.

March 7, 2025 Modern Chinese Culture Day

An interactive lecture “Youth Slang in Modern Chinese Internet Communication” was conducted by the department’s lecturer Marina Belik. Students learned about popular slang expressions that are actively used by Chinese youth in social networks, memes and chats, as well as about the cultural and social aspects of their use.
