“Regulation and Compliance for Trade and Development”

On March 6, teachers and students of the Department of Commodity Research and Commercial Entrepreneurship participated in an online conference: “Regulation and Compliance for Trade and Development.”
On March 6, 2025, Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Commodity Research and Trade Entrepreneurship, together with bachelor’s and master’s students majoring in Commodity Studies and Expertise in Customs Affairs participated in the online conference: “Regulation and Compliance for Trade and Development”.
The conference was organized within the framework of the project “Application and Implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine in the Field of Trade”, funded by the German government and implemented by the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the EEN Ukraine consortium.
After signing the Association Agreement with the European Union and in preparation for the implementation of the “industrial visa-free regime” (ACAA), Ukraine has significantly brought its legislation closer to European standards. The EU is constantly improving regulations to ensure consumer safety, and these changes are taking place both in EU legislation and in the national legislation of Ukraine. New technical regulations are coming into force, regulatory frameworks are changing, which encourages manufacturers to adapt production processes in accordance with Ukrainian and European legislation simultaneously.
During the online conference “Regulation and Compliance for Trade and Development” the following topics were discussed:
- changes in the national legislation of Ukraine (namely: prospective legislation in the field of non-food product safety and market surveillance; features of the status and use of standards, technical specifications and various conclusions and certificates as evidence of product conformity; strengthening of market surveillance; sectoral market surveillance plans; national export strategy and the importance of focusing on technical conformity of products;
- updates in EU legislation (namely: overview of changes in EU legislation; importance of conformity assessment services for business and support, using the experience of consultants of the CCI system in Ukraine; experience of companies in conformity assessment (cases, challenges).
The participation of scientific and pedagogical workers of the Department of Commodity Research and Trade Entrepreneurship and students majoring in “Commodity Studies and Expertise in Customs Affairs” in such events related to the internationalization of educational activities contributes to: clarifying changes in the national legislation of Ukraine and the EU in the field of technical regulation; understanding the role of the national export strategy and the role of technical conformity of products; determining modern approaches of Ukrainian manufacturers to doing business and is a guarantee of training highly qualified specialists.
