Lecture-Discussion “Three Years of War in Ukraine. Historical Consequences and Current Results”
25.2.2025
The ER ISHS hosted a lecture-discussion “Three Years of War in Ukraine. Historical Consequences and Current Results” on the third anniversary of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war.
The event, in which students of various specialties and teachers of the Institute actively participated, was organized on the initiative of the Directorate and the Department of History and Archaeology. The main speaker was Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology Oleksandr Naboka. He noted that, despite the fact that the Russian-Ukrainian war is still ongoing, it is possible to make certain preliminary, cautious scientific assessments. At the same time, he noted that scientific generalizations of tragic events may not take into account the diverse negative experience of people – participants in the events. Therefore, in his opinion, one should be cautious in assessing certain events in the modern military history of our state.
The speaker shared with the participants of the event his observations on the nature of the war, the reasons for the aggressiveness of the late Putin regime, and made an excursion into the history of Russian “small and victorious wars”. Methods of forming the “language of aggression” were also discussed; “drone war” as the main technological phenomenon of the current military conflict.
The Institute’s lecturers Olha Bublyk, Kateryna Kotelenets, Olena Mezhenska, as well as students, including participants in the military operations, actively participated in the discussion. They shared their own experience and vision of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
