The meeting of administration

Today a regular meeting of administration was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The agenda included the question concerning the status and development prospects of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communication Faculty. Having heard and discussed the report of the Dean of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications Faculty Tetyana Pinchuk, the administration mentioned that during 2014 – 2016 academic year the faculty carried out educational activities in five main areas of work: personnel policy, formation of a contingent of students, research work, educational and methodical work, social and humanitarian work.

According to the results of the students research work during the 2014 – 2016 academic years our students took 10 prizes in the regional stage of the International linguistic and literary contest named after Taras Shevchenko, 6 prizes in the regional stage of the International Competition of Ukrainian language named after Peter Yatsik. One student became a winner of the XIX All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers “Shevchenko and the Ukrainian language”. Five students became winners of the International Art Contest “My Native Land”; four students took prizes in the All-Ukrainian competition of student creativity “We Fight for a New Life” (Lesya Ukrainka); one student was the winner of the Open competition of student research papers on printing and publishing “Youth and Polygraphy”. In addition students received one victory in the International linguistic and literary contest named after Taras Shevchenko, one – in the II stage of Ukrainian competition of student research papers on Ukrainian literature, one – in the regional competition of young writers of Luhansk region – 2015.

Students of the Faculty were the winners in the nomination “The Best Student of the University” for the third time.

Each year faculty students receive nominal scholarships of the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, named after Vyacheslav Chornovil for high results in their studies, significant achievements in scientific research. In the second semester of 2015 – 2016 academic year six scholarships of nine were granted to the students of this Faculty.

Three teachers have successfully completed the course “Certification of Teachers in Distance Learning e-Tutor», which was conducted by the University of Economics and Law “Krok” in Kiev (from October 03 to December 26, 2015). Two teachers trained in leading universities of the USA and Germany (2015 – 2017).

The social and humanitarian work a little transformed under the conditions of evacuation. The most effective forms of work with students is consultation in social networks, awareness and educational hours at session weeks, a visit to the city museum etc. Students of full-time education take an active part in the traditional activities of the Shevchenko week, university-wide and city events, concerts, express a proactive stance.

The Department of Ukrainian Philology and General Linguistics founded the “Theatre of Linguistic Miniatures” and has already carried out educational activities: an evening dedicated to the International Mother Language Day, Spring Festival and meetings “ABC equinox.”

The Faculty participated in the development of activities of the Regional program of development of the Ukrainian language, culture and national consciousness of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Luhansk region on 2016 – 2018 years.

Representatives of the dean’s office, the teaching staff and students of the Faculty are actively preparing for state certification. The necessary documentation has been already prepared; the students have been acquainted with the schedule of state certification and requirements for the protection of final qualifying works.
