Participation in the StudMentor Program from the NGO “Study for Ukraine”
24.1.2025
A first-year bachelor’s student majoring in 231 “Social Work”, Alona Kuznetsova, successfully completed her studies and joined the 9th wave of the StudMentor program.
This initiative is implemented by the NGO “Educate for Ukraine” with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine and funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).
From January 22 to March 19, 2025, Alona will conduct classes for Ukrainian schoolchildren, supporting them in their studies and helping them master biology, her favorite subject. This will be not only a great opportunity to share knowledge, but also to make a significant contribution to the development of students in a difficult time for the country.
In order to participate in the programme, Alona successfully passed a multi-level selection, which included filling out an application form, subject testing, an interview, and an intensive online course. The training covered key topics necessary for effective mentoring: project mechanics, the basics of intellectual volunteering, the values and needs of the child, active listening techniques, the use of artificial intelligence tools, working with children with special educational needs, ecological feedback, the structure of classes with elements of psychosocial support, etc.
Special attention will be paid to the concept of the New Ukrainian School, which is focused on the implementation of new roles of the teacher, such as mentor, tutor and moderator, as well as a person-oriented and competency-based approach to education.
The StudMentor program has become an important stage in the formation of Alona Kuznetsova’s professional development. Participation in it allows not only to develop professional competencies, but also to support schoolchildren in obtaining quality education, which is an important component of the development of society.
