The Department of Oriental Languages continues the active research activities on the international level.
On April 26-27, 2016 the Sixth International scientific-practical conference of teachers and students “UKRAINE-CHINA: DIALOGUE OF CULTURES. CURRENT PROBLEMS OF SINOLOGY” was held and on April 28-29, 2016 the International scientific-practical conference of teachers and students “MODERN TRENDS OF ORIENTALISM” took place on the basis of Poltava University of Economics and Trade.
The organizer of these conferences has traditionally become the Department of Oriental Languages of LTSNU that despite the difficulties continues to be actively engaged in scientific activity on the international level.
Conferences gathered teachers and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Japanese students, teachers of Turkish language and literature of the Turkish Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, as well as teachers of Chinese language and literature from Poland and China.
At the beginning of the conference the dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages, Candidate of Pedagogical sciences, Associate Professor Ivan Karpenko and the Acting Head of the Department of Oriental Languages Teacher Iryna Chepurnaya greeted the participants.
“Such events plays an important role in maintaining a high level of research activity of not only the Department of Oriental Languages, but the faculty and the university as a whole”, – the Dean of the Faculty Ivan Karpenko said.
Among the main themes of the conference “UKRAINE-CHINA: DIALOGUE OF CULTURES. CURRENT PROBLEMS OF SINOLOGY” were the Chinese language (history, linguistic characteristics and development, current status); innovative technologies in the teaching and methods of teaching the Chinese language in Ukraine and the world; literary aspect of Sinology; patriotic, civic and moral education of young people in China and Ukraine.
Regarding the work of the conference “MODERN TRENDS of ORIENTALISM”, it was carried out in four sections: linguistic study of Oriental languages (Turkish, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew); innovative technologies in teaching and teaching methods of oriental languages; the identity of the eastern culture and literature of the East.
During the plenary session the Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Languages Natalia Fedicheva substantiated the potential of a foreign language in the development of human personality values and defined methods, forms of work that can positively influence on the development of the humanistic values of students and improve their international skills.
The Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of LTSNU Svitlana Shehavtsova shared his thoughts on the state and prospects of distance education, and convinced the audience that, despite the shortcomings and problems, distance education had great prospects for the development and functioning.
Ph.D., Associate Professor of Baku Slavic University Y.K. Alkhasov mentioned that in the study of the Turkish language it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the language. An effective way of activating Turkish words can be the teacher’s historical and etymological commentary. As the Turkish language has many Arabisms teachers should explain some rules of the Arabic language to students.
At the end of the plenary session the teachers of the Chinese language and literature I.N. Chepurnaya, S.S. Guan, L.V. Klimchuk, a teacher of Japanese S.O. Gorbuneva and a teacher of English language A.N. Schableva of the Oriental Languages Department made their presentations.
According to the results of both conferences will be published a collection of scientific articles. 49 abstracts have already been published. Besides thesis teachers and graduate students had the opportunity to publish more articles in scientific journals of Ukraine – Visnyk of LTSNU. Education.”
In the end all the participants received the conference participant certificates.
“This is a great opportunity for our students to express themselves and take the first steps in this scientific work. Undoubtedly, this experience will be useful for their future studying and teaching practice in the future “, – Natalia Fedicheva mentioned.
As the Acting Head of the Department of Oriental Languages, Iryna Chepurnaya said, “The Department will continue to conduct active international research activities to improve the status of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University not only among the Ukrainian universities, but also in the international arena.”
