Participation of the ER IPP in the Online Lecture

On January 16, an online lecture on the history of violence took place as part of the AMU series dedicated to the study of Eastern Europe and the post-Soviet space.

The speaker was Professor Luba Jurgenson of the Sorbonne University, a specialist in the history and representation of mass violence in the 20th century, Director of the Eur’ORBEM Research Center, and Vice-President of Memorial-France. The meeting was joined by teachers and second-level (master’s) students from the Departments of Psychology and Social Pedagogy of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, who emphasized the extraordinary relevance of the topic for today’s Ukraine and emphasized that such interdisciplinary events allow for a deeper understanding of the nature of historical traumas and find approaches to their understanding in society. During the lecture, there was a lively discussion of the mechanisms for preserving and transmitting the memory of mass violence, as well as the role of the humanities in overcoming the consequences of totalitarian regimes and creating new narratives about the past.

The participants expressed their sincere gratitude to Professor Jurgenson for her useful scientific ideas and look forward to further fruitful cooperation, as well as the organization of new meetings that will help to better understand the complex aspects of historical heritage in the context of modern challenges.
