Master Class on Painting in Cinema

A master class on the use of painting techniques in cinema was held at the Institute of Arts. 

On January 7, an online master class was held by Volodymyr Myslavskyi, head of the Department of Cinema and Television Directing and Screenwriting, Doctor of Art History, Professor of the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. The lecture was organized by the head of the Department of Audiovisual Art, Doctor of Philosophy Maksym Saibekov.

The master class included a lecture with a detailed analysis of each point with visual examples from painting and cinema. The lecturer talked about such things as “painting techniques in Hollywood films”, “frame composition in Ingmar Bergman’s films”, “quoting classic paintings in world cinema” and much more. In addition, the topic of color in cinema and how this tool can affect the viewer’s perception was mentioned: contrasts of cold and hot, types of color palette, combination of red and white, etc.

The Department of Audiovisual Art is sincerely grateful for the interesting lecture material. We will be glad to meet the lecturer again.
