Meeting of the Scientific Group “Financer”

The Department of Finance, Accounting and Banking held a meeting of the scientific group “Financer”.

On December 24, within the framework of the international movement “Generous Tuesday” and at the initiative of the National Bank of Ukraine in order to popularize both entrepreneurship and the culture of charity, the Department of Finance, Accounting and Banking of LTSNU held a meeting of the scientific group “Finance” on the topic “With good in the heart, with Ukraine in the soul” about successful Ukrainian entrepreneurs-philanthropists.

During the discussion, attention was focused on the activities of prominent figures in the history of Ukraine: Oleksii Alchevskyi, Hryhorii Hladyniuk, Yevhen Chykalenko, the Symyrenko family, the Tereshchenko family and the Kharytonenko family.

Considerable attention was paid to the figure of Andrii Sheptytskyi and his role in the history of Ukraine; the organization and development of insurance and banking institutions of Galicia, in particular: the Mutual Insurance Society “Dniester”; the Land Mortgage Bank, the Mutual Credit Society and the Regional Credit Union.

It is worth noting that the department is actively engaged in research on this topic. Thus, Doctor of Economics, Professor Yurii Klapkiv is the author of the article “Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi” http://surl.li/jkxqlo and the monograph “Origins of the National Insurance Market of Ukraine” http://surl.li/fefjkc, and Professor Viktor Trynchuk is the author of the article “Symbols of Sacred Art in the Corporate Identity of Insurance Companies” http://surl.li/kosgkm.

The entrepreneurs-patrons have proven that success is not only hard work and personal achievements, but also the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of one’s own country, its economy, education, culture, and art. Today, as never before, the words of Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi remain relevant that the most important factor of unity is the Ukrainian language, and the key to the transformation of Ukraine lies in it itself. It is difficult for us to change external circumstances, but it is within our will to change ourselves.
