Christmas Advent
24.12.2024
On 24 December 2024, the Institute of Philology and Journalism, at the initiative of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, celebrated Germanic Christmas.
Christmas in Germany is one of the most significant holidays with numerous traditions. Germans take this time very seriously and start preparing in advance.
During the educational and methodological event, the students and all those present learned about the history of Christmas in Germany. The presentation by Senior Lecturer Blednova O.G. contributed to the interest and respect of those present to the culture and traditions of Germany and German-speaking countries and created an atmosphere for the year’s main holiday. At the event, the students and all those present learned about Christmas interesting facts in Germany and German-speaking countries, namely, why there is such a tradition of putting up a Christmas tree on the main holidays of the year, whether there are men in Germany with the official name ‘Jesus’, whether there are certified St Nicholas with permission to work in the lead role on holidays.
We did not forget about the real Advent calendar—a symbol of Christmas and the New Year. We listened to the situation when Germans made Christmas cookies and wished everyone a WINNING NEW YEAR!
