Teachers of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology joined the public dialogue “Public Discourse and Academic Research in Representing People Under Occupation: Are war-caused conflicts transformable?” as part of the Aurora Peace Talks series.
On December 16, faculty members of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology joined a public dialogue, where the speaker was Yuliia Soroka, Ph.D. “Public Discourse and Academic Research in Representing People Under Occupation: Are war-caused conflicts transformable?” as part of the Aurora Peace Talks series. This series of lectures includes reports of colleagues from Ukraine and other countries.
Yuliia Soroka focused on the analysis of wartime power dynamics, social hierarchies, and Ukrainian perspectives during occupation. The study of problems in the analysis of digitized military data, the impact of Ukrainian discourse on social differences, gender perspectives, and the role of academic experience in understanding conflict transformation were discussed.
At the end of the event, all attendees were able to share their thoughts and ask questions to the speaker. The knowledge gained will allow faculty members of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology to improve their skills.
