The beauty of the native land

On May 3, 2016, teachers and staff of LNU visited the Samsonivska backwater in the Bilokurakynsky district.

The Trade Union Organization of LTSNU organized the trip.

The Samsonivska backwater is a landscape reserve of local importance. It is located on the grounds of an abandoned village Samsonivka of the Bilokurakynsky district in the Luhansk region. The area of this reserve is ​​506 hectares.

Flora of the backwater has a large number of plants listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Among them is the fine-leaved peony. Today, the fine-leaved peony is considered one of the most expensive and highly popular plants in Europe, the USA and Canada.

“The fine-leaved Peony is a real prairie beauty”, which can be considered a symbol of Ukrainian steppes. It is found less and less in the wild. This flower is listed in the Red Books of many countries of Europe, Asia Minor. Today this plant is preserved in such districts of the Luhansk region, as: Bilovodsky, Milovsky, Bilokurakynsky. This plant often receives the popular name – the azure flower. Sometimes it is called the steppe peony, but the steppe peony (Paconia hybrida) and the fine-leaved peony (Paconia tenuifolia) are different kinds”, – Head of the Department of Biology N.Y.Matzai told.

Teachers and staff of Luhansk National University were amazed by the beauty of these magnificent flowers, which are in the rays of the May sun seemed fairy.

The native land hides many wonders, and the main thing – to notice them!
