Participation in a Seminar

The faculty of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology recently participated in a seminar on actions in emergency situations.

The speaker of the event, Sigita Dislere, is an expert in the safety of hydraulic structures, a specialist in the development of emergency plans and civil protection plans. She spoke about the main actions and experience of Latvia in overcoming extraordinary situations. She provided instructions on the main actions of the Latvian people during disasters and wars.

A special guest was invited to the event – Elmars Pljavins, Chief Chaplain of the Latvian National Armed Forces, an expert in international military-religious cooperation.

Elmars shared his experience in assisting Ukraine since 2014. He regularly visits our country, including hot spots, teaching our military the procedure for action in the event of certain extraordinary situations.

At the end of the event, everyone could ask questions and discuss the presented material. The project is funded by the European Union.

The acquired knowledge is used by the teachers of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology to improve the educational content.
