Meeting with a Polar Explorer

A meeting with a polar explorer was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

On December 11, 2024, a meeting was held with students of the Starobilsk Professional College and Professional Colleges of LTSNU with a participant in the 27th and 28th Ukrainian Antarctic expeditions, senior lecturer of the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology of the Educational and Research Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, researcher at the State Museum of Natural History of the NAS of Ukraine and the Luhansk Nature Reserve of the NAS of Ukraine Serhii HLOTOV.

Serhii Volodymyrovych Hlotov, as a graduate of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, maintains constant contact with his native Alma Mater, who, after returning from the Antarctic station “Academician Vernadskyi”, joined the team of university teachers.

At the beginning of the meeting, the polar explorer showed a video about the Ukrainian Antarctic station “Academician Vernadsky”, and then, using a video presentation, told those present about the climate and natural conditions of Antarctica, the fauna and flora, scientific research conducted by expedition members in harsh conditions, and interesting stories from the life of polar explorers. He noted the high level of training and awareness of the students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Those present were interested in the scientist’s informative story and asked many questions, to which they received comprehensive answers from Mr. Serhii, after which they thanked him and the university management for organizing such an event.

The polar explorer promised to continue holding such meetings with students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, ending the meeting with a joint photo.
