Participation in the Interdisciplinary Seminar

On 12 December, Associate Professor of the Department of Literary Studies, Oriental Philology and Translation Iryna Boitsun took part in an interdisciplinary seminar. 

On 12 December, Associate Professor of the Department of Literary Studies, Oriental Philology and Translation Iryna Boitsun took part in an interdisciplinary seminar on intellectual history ‘Viktor Petrov and Dmytro Dontsov: Variations of Intellectual History’ organised by the Department of History of the Ukrainian Catholic University. The event was moderated by Oleksandr Zaitsev, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of History at the Ukrainian Catholic University. The seminar was attended by teachers from different cities of Ukraine and abroad.

The participants listened to an informative lecture by historian Andriy Portnov, Professor of Ukrainian History at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt am Oder, Director of the Centre for Polish and Ukrainian Studies at the European University Viadrina, and member of PEN Ukraine. The speaker focused on the complex relationships among the MUR representatives, ideological and literary discussions that were constantly taking place in the Ukrainian diaspora. In his lecture, Professor Andriy Portnov paid special attention to the ideological positions of Dmytro Dontsov and Viktor Petrov, referring to the letters and journalism of the artists.

The subject of discussion at the seminar was the place and role of Dmytro Dontsov and Viktor Petrov in Ukrainian history, ‘white spots’ in Viktor Petrov’s biography, including his cooperation with the structures of the Soviet government, Dmytro Dontsov’s attitude to works of Russian literature, etc. The organisers of the seminar announced a new meeting with Professor Andrii Portnov to continue discussing the topic.
