Working Meeting “Luhansk Region Today: Issues of Ecology, Environmental Education and Enlightenment”

On December 10, 2024, the meeting took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
A mixed format was chosen for the meeting – offline (with the possibility of online connection).
The organizer of the meeting was the Luhansk regional organization of the All-Ukrainian Ecological League (AEL) at the initiative of Tetiana TYMOCHKO, head of the NGO “All-Ukrainian Ecological League”.
The All-Ukrainian Ecological League is a public organization that aims to improve the environmental situation in Ukraine.
The moderator of the event was Nataliia MATSAI, head of the Luhansk branch of the AEL, director of the Educational and Research Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences of LTSNU.
The chairman of the Academic Council of LTSNU, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Vitalii KURYLO, delivered welcoming remarks, after which the acting director of the Department of Communal Property, Land, Property Relations, Ecology and Natural Resources of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Tetyana KUKUSHKINA and the acting director of the Department of Municipal Property, Land, Property Relations, Ecology and Natural Resources of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Tetiana POSKRIAKOVA.
To begin the working part of the meeting, the floor was given to the head of the public environmental organization “All-Ukrainian Ecological League”, advisor to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Tetyana TYMOCHKO.
– Today it is obvious that Russian military aggression causes damage not only to the environment and natural resources within the national borders of one state, but also to the environment as a whole, global objects and ecological balance. The longer the war lasts, the more the impact of negative factors on the environment worsens and new man-made threats arise, which will cause even greater pollution of the natural environment and risks to the health of the nation in the future, – emphasized Tetiana Valentynivna Tymochko.
In general, the meeting was devoted to topical issues of ecology, environmental education and enlightenment of the Luhansk region in conditions of a full-scale invasion. The meeting was attended by heads of relevant departments of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, the State Environmental Inspectorate in the Luhansk region, district and city military administrations, territorial communities, scientists from higher education institutions and the National Environmental Protection Agency, educators and employees of cultural and educational institutions of the Luhansk region, who expressed their opinions on the current environmental situation in Ukraine, public environmental control over compliance with environmental legislation, recording environmental damage, calculating losses and recording environmental crimes during the war, etc., with presentations of the work carried out.
The meeting ended with a tour of the educational premises, laboratory and sensory room of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
