Participation in Comprehensive Online Lectures

First-year graduate students pursuing the Master’s degree in Philology under the educational program “Germanic Languages and Literatures (including translation), first – English. Translation” – Oleksandra KORINSKA and Viktor VORONOV (scientific advisor: Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Svitlana PEROVA) – took part in comprehensive online lectures.

On December 10, 2024, a lecture was held on the topic: “Empowering Ukrainian Higher Education: Navigating the AI Revolution in Teaching and Learning”.

The keynote speaker was Professor Rose Luckin, Ph.D. in Cognitive and Computer Sciences, Master of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, Professor Emerita at University College London (UK), founder and CEO of Educate Ventures Research Limited, advisor at Cambridge University Press and Assessment, co-founder of the Institute for Ethical AI in Education, President of The Self-Managed Learning Centre, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee at the UK Department for Education (DfE).

Professor Luckin elaborated on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in Ukrainian higher education, highlighting opportunities for personalized learning, automated assessment, and data analytics. She also addressed challenges related to ethics, privacy, and institutional readiness. Special focus was placed on developing strategies for AI implementation, enhancing staff competencies, and creating effective management models tailored to the needs of the Ukrainian educational system.

On December 12, 2024, another lecture was held titled: “Generative AI and Education: Opportunities and Issues”. The speaker was Professor Mike Sharples, Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Master of Computing, and Emeritus Professor at the Institute of Education, The Open University (UK).

Professor Sharples explored how generative AI, particularly tools like ChatGPT, is transforming education by performing tasks ranging from essay writing to lesson planning and facilitating dialogues. The lecture covered challenges such as identifying AI-generated works, creating policies for AI use in education, and developing “AI literacy” programs for educators and students. He also presented AI-driven opportunities in teaching and assessment, including models like the “Engine of Possibilities,” “Socratic Opponent,” “Co-creator,” and “Dynamic Assessor.”

The event was organized by the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine and gathered over 500 scholars.
