Social Support Practice

The students for the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology underwent the social support practice.

From November 11 to December 7, 2024,the 3rd year full-time bachelor’s students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, majoring in 231 “Social Work” under the educational program “Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology” underwent social support practice.

The purpose of social support practice is to form a holistic understanding of the system of social support work based on practice, to gain practical experience in planning and organizing social support for specific categories of the population.

Our students underwent practice on the basis of social services, public organizations, secondary education institutions, a social rehabilitation center and a boarding house for elderly citizens and people with disabilities.

During the practice, students had the opportunity to: deepen their knowledge of the organization of social work; to learn about the main areas of activity of institutions in which social support activities are carried out; to gain practical skills in interacting with different categories of clients; to participate in practical activities aimed at social support, including individual and group work, consultations and prevention.

Passing the social support practice gave the opportunity to future specialists to develop professional competencies, such as communication skills, empathy, organizational skills, the ability to work in a team and make responsible decisions. Thanks to this experience, the students better understood the specifics of social support for different population groups and the importance of an integrated approach to solving social problems.
