On December 11, 2024, the Department of Philology hosted the defense of term papers by 4th-year students from the “Language and Literature (Chinese, English)” and “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)” programs. The defense was conducted before a committee comprising faculty members from the Department of English and Translation Studies: Professor Kryzhanovska O.O. (Head of the Department), Associate Professor Perova S.V., and Associate Professor Demchenko N.O.
Students presented research on relevant topics addressing modern aspects of translation studies, English language, and intercultural communication, with a focus on challenges in translating literary, technical, and business texts.
The session began with an opening speech by the committee chair, emphasizing the significance of the topics for advancing modern translation studies and language education. Each student had 10–15 minutes to present their work, showcasing analysis results and proposed solutions to translation challenges. Following the presentations, students answered questions on theoretical aspects, practical applications of their strategies, and their personal contributions to the research. The committee particularly highlighted the scientific novelty and practical value of the works. All presentations were highly praised for their academic rigor, in-depth analysis, and adherence to scholarly standards.
