Event dedicated to the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Volunteer Day
6.12.2024
On 06.12.2024, the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology organized and held an all-institutional educational event dedicated to the Day of Volunteers and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The event was moderated by Associate Professor of the Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Olha Yunina. Its aim was to celebrate the courage of Ukrainian defenders and support the volunteer movement.
The event brought together university students, teachers, and guests to honour the feats of Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers.
The host stressed the importance of preserving the memory of the heroes who defend our independence. The participants had the opportunity to join the fundraising for car repairs for the Svatovo TRO, organized by Vladyslav Radchenko, a postgraduate student of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University (supervisor – Doctor of Philology, Professor Victoriia Dmytrenko), a lecturer at the Kharkiv Professional College of Construction, Architecture, and Design.
The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen defenders and volunteers.
Poetry performances, videos, and patriotic songs, including SKAI’s ‘Don’t Retreat and Don’t Surrender’ and Riffmaster’s ‘Quietly Came, Quietly Gone’, created a special atmosphere. A screening of an excerpt from the documentary film Ethos about the Special Operations Forces highlighted the spirit of brotherhood and professionalism of the Ukrainian military.
The attendees also learned about the historical stages of the Ukrainian army’s development: from Slavic militias to the modern army.
The event ended with words about the unbreakable Ukrainian spirit, the national anthem, and a call for unity and support.
We can contribute to the victory by joining forces for a common future!
Glory to Ukraine!
