Meeting with Georgia State University, USA

A meeting took place between representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and delegation from Georgia State University (GSU) to develop joint initiatives in education, science, and intercultural dialogue.

On December 5, 2024, representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University namely Director of the Institute of International Education, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Iryna V. MYHOVYCH and Head of the International Education Sector of the International Relations Office, Ms. Liudmyla A. OVCHAROVA met with delegation from Georgia State University (GSU), namely Dr. John D. BUNTING, Principal Lecturer & Director of the Intensive English Program, Department of Applied Linguistics, Georgia State University, and Robin V. CATHEY, Academic Professional, Associate Director, Intensive English Program, Department of Applied Linguistics and ESL, Georgia State University. The meeting was organized with the support and coordination of the Department of International Technical Assistance, Innovative Development, and External Relations of Luhansk Regional State Administration.

The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening international collaboration between the two universities, underscoring solidarity with Ukraine during challenging times. It also highlighted the international community’s readiness to support Ukrainian education and integrate it into the global academic sphere.

Key highlights of the meeting: 1) identification of shared interests: development of joint educational programs; faculty and student exchange programs; initiatives fostering intercultural dialogue; 2) Signing Memorandum of Cooperation: exploring the involvement of the Department of International Technical Assistance, Innovative Development, and External Relations of the Luhansk Regional State Administration as a third-party coordinator for specific projects; 3) discussion of immediate initiatives: organizing a photo exhibition showcasing the achievements of Luhansk universities; hosting a guest lecture or panel discussion on adapting to relocation challenges and supporting students; 4) long-term cooperation: development of joint research projects; development of strategic partnership.

This event confirmed Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University’s commitment to innovation and expanding its international cooperation, as well as its integration into the global academic community. Heartfelt thanks to the Department of International Technical Assistance, Innovative Development, and External Relations of the Luhansk Regional State Administration for their organizational support in implementing such important initiatives.
