Japanese Сuisine day at the Youth club of Oriental cultures
2.12.2024
A Student of Nagasaki University (Japan) held The Culinary Workshop on making okonomiyaki or “Japanese pizza”
On November 30, the Youth Club of Oriental Cultures at the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism celebrated Japanese Cuisine Day. The guest of the event was Alexandra Shustval, who is currently studying in Japan.
Ms. Alexandra held an unsurpassed master class on making a special Japanese dish – okonomiyaki (お好き焼き). “Okonomi” in Japanese means “what you like”, and “yaki” – “to fry”. This name is also reflected in the recipe for the dish: there is no single correct way to cook it. However, there is a classic set of ingredients which are necessarily mixed in any okonomiyaki – cabbage, eggs, flour, bacon, etc. This dish is also called “Japanese pizza”.
Everyone could cook with Alexandra. Yulia Malakhova, the guarantor of the educational program “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)” and first-year student Arina Sherstyuk even demonstrated their culinary masterpieces.
We are grateful to everyone who joins the initiatives of our club and look forward to new meetings!
