Holodomor Remembrance Day at the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism

On November 25th, 2024, the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism hosted the event “Sorrowful Memory of Generations” dedicated to the Holodomor Remembrance Day.

The organizers were the Romance and Germanic Philology Department, which invited lecturers and higher education students from the entire structural division. The moderator of the event was the lecturer of the department Iryna Skliarova.

During the event, those present remembered one of the most tragic pages in the history of Ukraine – the Holodomor of 1932–1933. This artificially created genocide took the lives of millions of Ukrainians, leaving a deep wound in the memory of our people. The moderator of the event immersed those present in the events of those times, told about the prerequisites and chronology of the tragedy, and noted the importance of remembering the Holodomor and its role in the formation of Ukrainian national identity. Together they watched interviews with people who were eyewitnesses to that terrible event: from the project “Holodomor: Mosaic of History: Unknown Pages” of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and from the channel “Public. Donbas”. At the end of the event, lectures and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism honored the memory of the deceased with a minute of silence.

We must remember to prevent such tragedies from happening again. Our memory is our protection. Bright memory to all victims of the Holodomor. We remember – we will not forget.
