Ukraine and Ukrainians Deserve Freedom
22.11.2024
Today marks the eleventh anniversary of a landmark event in national history – the event commemorating the heroes of the Revolution of Dignity.
On November 21, 2024, students and teachers of the Starobilsk Professional College and the Professional College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in a city-wide event held by the Volodymyr Malik Lubny Public Library. It was an hour of communication on the topic “Ukraine and Ukrainians Deserve Freedom”. Once again, the page of those events of ten years ago was turned over, which showed the world the desire of the Ukrainian people to be in the cohort of European states. This was an example of the struggle for European values and ideals. This was spoken about by the college’s history teacher Oleksandr Karpenko and participants in the events of the Revolution of Dignity – Vasyl Oliinyk, Antonina Danylenko and Viktor Syvukha.
The participants of the meeting learned about the peculiarities of the events of the Revolution of Dignity, the special spirit of the Maidan, the participation of youth in the events as well as about the atrocities of the “Berkut” who shot the protesters. Each of the participants of the Revolution of Dignity had his own story, but they all emphasized a characteristic example of the unity of Ukrainians.
The participants of the meeting agreed on a common truth-axiom, which is an important life advice. It emphasizes that: “…Teach history! For those who forget their own history, they will correct their geography.”
