Non-Traditional Methods of Therapy in Speech Therapy Work

The associate professors of the Special Education Department together with students took part in the VI Regional Scientific and Practical Seminar “Non-Traditional Methods of Therapy in Speech Therapy Work”.

On November 14, 2024, at the invitation of the Pavel Tychyna Uman University of Applied Sciences, associate professors of the Department of Special Education of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology I.V. Makarenko, T.V. Makhukova, together with the third-year full-time students majoring in 016 “Special Education”, programs 016.01 “Speech therapy. Special Psychology” took part in the VI Regional scientific and practical seminar “Non-Traditional Methods of Therapy in Speech Therapy Work”, which was held in offline and online formats.

The speakers presented the theoretical rationale and shared practical experience of using non-traditional methods of correcting speech disorders, in particular: the use of artificial intelligence in the work of a speech therapist – advantages and disadvantages; technologies for the formation of speech breathing, etc. Video materials from the practical experience of conducting classes at the inclusive resource center in Uman were provided for viewing. In offline mode, everyone present was offered a master class on making a breathing simulator with their own hands.

The seminar was held on the International Speech Therapist Day. This fact created a special festive emotional background in the work, confidence in the need to improve the formats of joint scientific and experimental-research interaction of the educational community of Ukrainian universities.
