Teachers of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Participated in the Conference

On November 14, 2024, students of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, together with their teachers, took part in the 6th All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Language and Intercultural Communication: Theory and Practice.”

The conference was co-organized by the Departments of Literary Studies, Oriental Philology and Translation, Ukrainian Language, and Foreign Languages for Professional Purposes of our university. The event gathered scholars, educators, students, and practitioners to discuss innovative approaches and research in the field of intercultural communication.

The conference was attended by representatives of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University,” including Professor K. D. Glukhovtseva, Associate Professor S. V. Perova, Associate Professor S. A. Shpetna, and Senior Lecturer Olga Kyrychenko. The event was held in a hybrid format, allowing participants from various regions of Ukraine and the world to join either in-person or online.

The conference program included sections dedicated to theoretical aspects of intercultural communication, linguistic and sociocultural factors in intercultural interactions, the role of language in forming intercultural competence, translation issues in an intercultural context, psycholinguistic aspects of intercultural communication, and the use of innovative technologies for teaching Ukrainian and foreign languages.

During the plenary session, a lively discussion was sparked by the presentation of Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Head of the Ukrainian Language Department, Kateryna Dmytrivna Glukhovtseva, titled “Sources of Linguistic Aphoristics.”

The conference became a platform for fruitful discussions, exchange of experiences and ideas among researchers and practitioners. Participants had the opportunity to present their research, discuss challenges and prospects of intercultural communication in the modern world, and establish new scientific contacts. Among the presented reports, particular attention was drawn to studies on the challenges of translating culturally specific texts, methods of teaching intercultural communication in educational institutions, and innovative technologies that promote intercultural understanding.
