The Director of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences Anton Bader held an offline lecture for university students.
On November 6, Anton Bader, director of the Educational and Research Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, delivered a lecture on the topic “The Russian-Ukrainian war through the prism of the logic of the functioning of the capitalist world-economy.” The lecture was held offline and gathered a significant number of university students.
The main topic of the speech was the analysis of the Russian-Ukrainian war in the context of the theoretical foundations of Immanuel Wallerstein’s world-system approach. The lecturer considered global socio-economic factors affecting political processes and explained in detail how the structure of the capitalist world-economy creates the conditions for modern conflicts.
Anton Bader emphasized the importance of understanding the differences between the “world-empire” and “world-economy” and drew attention to the peculiarities of the functioning of the hegemonic state in the modern world system. Historical parallels and armed conflicts that caused changes in hegemony in the world were also considered, analyzing how this logic is reflected in the current confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.
The event took place in the format of a lively discussion, students actively asked questions related to both economic and moral and ethical aspects of the conflict.
