Workshop on Bioinformatics and Microbiome Data
5.11.2024
A workshop on bioinformatics and microbiome data was held by the National Microbiome Data Collaborative.
On November 4, 2024, Olena Boiarchuk and Oleksii Hranovskyi, teachers of the Department of Anatomy, Human and Animal Physiology of LTSNU, took part in a seminar on bioinformatics and microbiome data from NMDC, conducted by Fulbright Program graduate Chris Robinson.
The workshop addressed the integration of data from multiple omics techniques, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to provide a comprehensive assessment of a biological system through the NMDC program. Olena Boiarchuk and Oleksii Hranovskyi took an active part in the discussion of the following issues: how to use metagenome databases, how to determine taxonomic classification based on readings, how to assemble a metagenome, how genetic databases generate structural and functional metagenome annotations.
The knowledge and materials obtained during the seminar will be implemented in the educational process during the teaching of the educational components “Bioinformatics with the basics of modeling”, “Genetics”, “Metabolomics” for students majoring in 091 “Biology and biochemistry” and 014.05 СО_”Biology and human health” “.
