Opening of the Veterans Development Center

On October 25, the official opening of the Center for Veteran Development took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The Center for Veteran Development was created as a structural subdivision of the University based on the decision of the Academic Council and the rector’s order, as well as the approval of the Regulations on the Center.

The prerequisite for the creation of the Center was a unique 10-year experience of educational, social-humanitarian, psychological, scientific work with servicemen participating in hostilities, war veterans, members of their families, and families of fallen servicemen, which other civilian higher education institutions of Ukraine do not have.

The purpose of the Veterans Development Center (VDR) of LTSNU is to create favorable conditions for professional, social, psychological, physical culture and health support and reintegration into public life of servicemen, discharged from military service, war veterans and their family members, members families of the fallen Defenders of Ukraine; training and advanced training of specialists in accompanying war veterans and demobilized persons.

The main areas of activity of the Center are:

  • Professional orientation, training, retraining, advanced training of war veterans and their family members.
  • Social support of war veterans and their family members.
  • Psychological assistance to war veterans and their family members.
  • Physical culture and health activities with war veterans and their family members.

Each area of activity of the Center will have its own location. A separate location – a sensory room – is provided for children of war veterans.

The opening of the Veterans Development Center opens up new opportunities for war veterans and their family members of Luhansk and Poltava regions. And even at the initial stage of the opening of the Center for Social Security, it can become a free space for defenders to communicate and spend meaningful leisure time.

The Rector of LTSNU Olena KARAMAN invited the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, the Lubny City Council, servicemen and war veterans, all interested parties to cooperate in the further development of the Veterans Center.

The opening of the Veterans Development Center ended with an inspection by the event participants of the premises for the location of the center’s locations.

We are sure that the Veterans Development Center will become a new center where every veteran can find the support necessary for new accomplishments and life achievements.

The Center is about veterans, for veterans, with veterans! We hope for constructive cooperation to support the veteran community!
