Lecture on the University History

Recently, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Oleksandr Naboka gave a popular science lecture dedicated to the history of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The event gathered students of non-historical majors who are interested in current events of the past national and regional history. Among other things, the speaker drew the attention of those present to the creation of the prototype of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University – the Donetsk Institute of National Education in 1921, as well as to the activities of outstanding teachers of that early era: Professor Serhii Hrushevskyi, archaeologist Serhii Loktyushev. Subsequently, he moved on to consider the work of scientists and educators of the “ancient period” of the University’s development – Wolf Baylis, Viktor Kriukov, Mykhailo Burian, Anatolii Klymov, and others. As Oleksandr Naboka noted, the fruitful work of the aforementioned educators made our university a leader in the field of science and educational work of all-Ukrainian importance.

The lecture was well received by its listeners. An informal decision was made to continue meeting and discussing historical issues of interest to students of various specialties.
