Professor Ilia Kononov gave a lecture to students about internal conflicts in Canadian society.
On October 14, the university hosted a lecture by Doctor of Sociology, Professor Ilia Kononov on the topic “Fault lines in modern Canadian society: experience in resolving internal conflicts.” The event gathered university students interested in studying social processes and conflict resolution methods in multinational societies.
During the lecture, Professor I. Kononov highlighted the key aspects of internal conflicts that arise due to ethnic, cultural and social differences, and also shared successful practices of their resolution using the example of Canada. Special emphasis was placed on the role of dialogue and cooperation between different social groups to achieve understanding and social unity.
Students actively participated in the event, asking numerous questions to the lecturer. They were interested in specific examples from Canadian history, the possibilities of applying this experience in other countries, in particular in Ukraine, and the prospects for solving social conflicts in the context of globalization. At the end of the lecture, a lively discussion took place, during which the participants discussed the issues of identity, multiculturalism and the politics of integration.
The event became an important step in expanding students’ knowledge of social processes in the modern world and gave them the opportunity to compare Canadian experience with the Ukrainian context.
