Introductory Lecture for Postgraduate Students

On October 9, an introductory lecture on the topic “Social work as a type of professional activity, science and specialty” was held for the first-year postgraduate students majoring in 231 “Social Work”.

The guarantor of the educational and scientific program “Social Work”, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Olena KARAMAN became the lecturer.

The lecture was aimed at forming among young scientists a systematic view of social work as a complex activity that requires a high level of theoretical training, practical skills and the ability to conduct scientific research.

In the course of the class, the participants had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of issues related to the relevance of social work problems in Ukraine; consider the history of its development; consider the problematic field of social work; determine the connection with other industries; main categories of customers; the network of social services in Ukraine and the system of social services they provide.

Special attention during the lecture was focused on social work as a science, as well as as a specialty (academic discipline) for the training of specialists.

After the lecture, postgraduate students had the opportunity to ask the lecturer questions and receive practical advice on research activities in the field of “Social Work”.
