“Experience of Estonia in Education. Possibilities of the Estonian School of Diplomacy”

There was a lecture on the topic “Experience of Estonia in Education. Possibilities of the Estonian School of Diplomacy” by Yevgenia Shevtsova, assistant of the Department of History and Archeology.

On October 7, university students had a great opportunity to attend a lecture held by the assistant of the Department of History and Archeology, Yevhenia Shevtsova. The topic of the lecture was “Experience of Estonia in Education. Possibilities of the Estonian School of Diplomacy” was not only relevant, but also extremely important for understanding how best practices of international experience can be applied in the process of reforming the Ukrainian education system.

Yevhenia Serhiyivna began her lecture by examining the historical parallels between Ukraine and Estonia. She emphasized that both countries were under the influence of empires for a long time and only after gaining independence did they embark on the path of reforming and building modern states. A particularly important aspect of this reform was the education system, which in Estonia has undergone significant changes over the past few decades.

“Estonia is a real example of how a small country can turn into a global leader in the field of education and digitalization,” the lecturer noted. Students learned about how Estonia invested in the development of information technology and education back in the early 1990s. The government has introduced a number of programs aimed at integrating technology into the educational process, connecting all schools to the Internet, and teaching teachers how to work with computers. This allowed Estonia not only to catch up, but also to be ahead of other countries in matters of digital literacy.

One of the central points of the lecture was the consideration of the activities of the Estonian School of Diplomacy (ESD), which plays a key role in the training of diplomats and specialists in the field of international relations. ESD was founded in 1990 and since then has grown into one of the most respected institutions training professionals to work in a global environment. The lecturer introduced the students in detail to the opportunities provided by this school, in particular to the international certification program in the theory and practice of diplomacy, which covers such topics as international law, foreign policy, security policy and other important aspects of international relations.

Particular attention was paid to the questions of how Ukrainian students can join the programs of the Estonian School of Diplomacy. This is a great opportunity for students to gain international experience, improve their diplomatic skills and join a global community of professionals.

Thanks to the lecture, the students were able not only to learn about Estonia’s achievements in the field of education, but also to receive valuable advice on opportunities for further study and career growth in the international arena.

Such events will become regular at the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences. Follow the announcements and do not miss the opportunity to join interesting lectures and discussions!
