With deep sadness, the Department of Information Technologies and Systems, informs about the untimely death of our colleague, Yurii Leontiiovych Tikhonov, who passed away.

Yurii Leontiyovych was born on January 6, 1950. In 1972, he graduated from the University named after M.V. Lomonosov, having qualified as a mathematician. After graduating from the university, he worked as a research intern at the Physical Institute of the Academy of Sciences. During 1974-1978, he held the positions of a junior researcher and an assistant at the departments of higher mathematics and technical cybernetics of the Voroshilovgrad Mechanical Engineering Institute.

In 1987, he defended his candidate’s thesis, obtaining the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. Since 2003, he worked as an associate professor at the Department of Information Technologies and Systems of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, where he worked until recently.

Yurii Leontiiovych’s total experience is 48 years, of which he devoted 29 years to teaching. His contribution to the development of science and education is difficult to overestimate, and his deep knowledge and experience will forever remain in the hearts of colleagues and students.

We express our sincere condolences to family, friends and everyone who had the honor of knowing Yurii Leontiiovych. His bright memory will always live in our hearts.
